DIABLO A'S REBUILDING THE FRONT END

This DVD is not made by professionals, but rather by Model A enthusiasts. You will notice that there is an audience for many of the presentations. That is because the dvd was made at one of Diablo A's technical seminars for its membership. Presenters are MAFCA judges or senior judges. Because these are not professional videos and there may be small issues such as sound sequencing & picture framing. This is not a defect and therefore not eligible for return.

FRONT SPRING PERCH

This is an excellent quality front spring perch. Includes one spring perch bushing. Does NOT include special castle nut (# 4300). Need 2.

If your spring shackles are good, then replace all 4 of the bushings. These bushings are pre reamed from the factory.

This is a 14.5 millimeter drill bit with a 1/2" shank.

The special 5/8-18" nut holds the perch in the axle. Need 2.

FRONT AXLE 3/4-16" CASTLE NUT AND COTTER PIN

Secures front wheel to spindle. Tighten castle nut until a light drag on wheel when spinning it, then back off 1 slot. Need 2 sets per car.

FRONT SPINDLE BUSHING
For Year(s): 28-41

This bushing is identical to the one in (# 4350) kit. Make sure the grease holes in the bushings line up with the holes in the spindle. Ream to .813" - .8135".

COMPLETE FRONT SPINDLE BOLT SET
For Year(s): 28-31

Worn spindle bolt parts can contribute to shimmy and rough steering. The kit includes the groved lock pin, “style 3” as in “Standards”, with the long lock nut, used 1929-31. Place cup washer with felt under washer against bottom of axle. The felt can be rubber cemented to the lower spindle arm to keep it in place during assembly. The bearing sits on top of the axle with the open side of the bearing down. Two shims are located between the bottom of the bearing and the top of the axle. Ream bushings to .814. When connecting the brake lever to the socket or cup of the king pin, check that the lever moves freely by moving the brake rod clevis back and forth. If you feel a drag or bind, then the king pin cup may not be aligned to the end of the lever shaft. This can be corrected by filing the cross cut in king pin shank to change the angle for the cup to seat to the lever shaft. Best of the two on the market. Complete set of 24 pieces.

This kit includes all the parts in the front spindle bolt set except the 2 spindle bolts. Place cup washer with felt under washer against bottom of axle. The bearing sits on top of the axle with the open side of bearing down. Two shims are located between the bottom of bearing and the top of the axle. Ream bushings to .814.
